What Is a Loan Against Shares Calculator?
How to Use the Loan Against Shares Calculator?
Share Price
This is the previous trading day's closing market price of your shares, used to estimate your loan eligibility. Prices are updated on every trading day to provide an accurate estimate.
LTV % (Loan-to-Value Ratio)
The Loan-to-Value (LTV) ratio is the percentage of your share's value that you can avail as a loan. The applicable LTV depends on the eligibility category of the share.
- Category A: Up to 45%
- Category B: Up to 40%
- Category C: Up to 35%
- Category D: Up to 30%
The calculator automatically applies the eligible LTV based on the selected share.
Total Loan Amount
The total eligible loan amount is calculated by adding the loan eligibility across all the shares you've entered.
Total Value per Share = Share Price × Number of Shares
This is the current market value of your shareholding. For example, if a share is priced at ₹500 and you hold 100 shares, your total holding value is ₹50,000.
Eligible Amount per Share
Based on the market value and applicable LTV, the calculator shows the loan amount you can avail against each share.
Example:
₹50,000 total value × 45% LTV = ₹22,500 eligible loan amount
Monthly Interest
Interest is charged only on the amount you utilise and only for the number of days it is utilised, at an interest rate of 10.25% p.a. This means you pay interest only on the outstanding loan amount, not on the entire sanctioned limit.
How is Loan Against Shares Calculated?
Here’s a simple Example:
| Share | Share Price | No. of Shares | Total Value | LTV | Eligible Loan |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Company A (Category A) | ₹500 | 100 | ₹50,000 | 45% | ₹22,500 |
| Company B (Category B) | ₹250 | 200 | ₹50,000 | 40% | ₹20,000 |
| Total Eligible Loan: | ₹42,500 | ||||
Enjoy the flexibility to withdraw funds whenever you need them, while paying interest only on the amount you utilise.
Note: During the loan tenure, the pledged shares are revalued daily based on the latest market prices. If the value of your pledged shares declines, your available drawing power or eligible loan limit may be reduced, and you may be required to provide additional eligible securities or repay a part of the outstanding loan to maintain the required margin.
